  • Linking
  • Blogging
  • Social networking

  • Press release writing/distribution
  • Link baiting
  • Pay per click advertising
  • eZine writing

  • Podcast creation/distribution

Google PageRank:  If you have a website, you have a Google PageRank (PR) number assigned to it on a scale of 0 to 10, 10 being the most visited and best websites on the Web.  Your score (and sales!) increase according to how well you market your webiste, and how visible it is to search engine “spiders” that “crawl” it looking for new information on a regular basis.  Google uses a proprietary algorithm, including PR numbers, to determine what sites to deliver to searchers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on.  An increase in PR should show you an improvement in return if used in conjunction with effective marketing once you get them to your website.

Tip: Install the Google Toolbar to view PageRanks.

Linking:  One of the quickest ways to raise your Google PageRank is to create one-way external links to your site from other places on the Internet.  There are many effective ways to do this, and all should be tried for optimal balanced efforts.

Suggested ways to create one-way links:

Link exchange program implementation: By exchanging links with high PR6, PR7 and PR8 sites you may get traffic from their sites and the spiders love to see their links attached to your site.  Site submission to high PR-ranked sites for link exchange with reported results.

Article marketing: Write information-based articles that your customers would find of interest and submit them to researched article depository sites, sites that are specific within your industry, and blogs that are specific within your industry.

Tip: Become an Affiliate and submit your articles to this website.

Bookmark marketing: A little-known way to market your website is to create a bookmark list of sites of interest in your industry, and post them to social bookmarking websites.  This increases traffic if done correctly, because Google sees it as relevant since it comes from an “authority” website.

Social sites: Another way to market your website is to post ads and profiles on social/city-based sites to pick up extra and free-targeted traffic, and start appearing on Google search results related to the keywords used.

Press release marketing: There are several ways to use press release marketing, often called the “backdoor” to get sites indexed and receiving traffic:

  1. Submit to search engines where people searching for articles to use on their sites or publications can find you (potential free exposure in the main publications for your industry!)
  2. Monitor others’ published press releases for material for your site or blog

Squidoo: Create a “Squidoo lens” on the topic of your choice and write about everything you know, utilizing keywords that are relevant to your website.  Build your lens by blogging, uploading photos, linking to other websites, and monetizing* with Affiliates and other offers.

Wordpress or Blogger blog: Build a blog of related keyword content and you will have a powerful online marketing system.

Web campaign marketing: Create a campaign with categories relevant to your target audience, put “link bait” content up on your site and either offer it generally to quality bloggers to review your product/service, or find specific bloggers in your industry and purchase reviews.  They choose whether or not to do the review.

Video marketing:  Cooperatively produce a video to upload to video sites, utilizing keywords that help your search engine rankings.

Podcast marketing: Research podcasts that reach the same niche as you and request to be a guest. Create audio files of articles written for contribution and submission to podcasts
