How to Use Virtual Spokespersons to Stand Out from the Crowd |
People will always respond best to other people, whether on television or the Internet. Today's generation of virtual spokespeople offers a great way to demonstrate products and services, and allows you to stand out from your competition. Here are some of the players in the virtual spokesperson market:
SitePal - SitePal has been around the longest and pretty much created the industry, but today's "real person" technology makes SitePal look as dated as Max Headroom
iSpeakVideo - pricing structure is as follows:
Video4Site - pricing structure is as follows:
Please note there are no additional monthly fees or any limit on the number of impressions on your website. Once we record your chosen actors we deliver the correct html code to place on your web page and an FLV file to place on your website. We can assist you with this at no additional charge. We also give you the created FLV file which some of our competitors actually retain ownership of. Our FLV player is not branded so you do not have to have something showing ours or anybody else's logo. Our actors can be clicked on and sent to any page of your choosing. The vast majority of our customers allow us to set this link to our own website but there is no obligation to do so, and no increase in price should you wish to point the link elsewhere.
Rovion's InPerson - encodes the videos, hosts, serves, and provides detailed reports on all of your InPerson videos.
Your videos are shot using standard chromakey techniques - against a green or blue background - and should be no longer than 25-30 seconds in length (shorter the better for performance). You can shoot videos wherever you want, or in their studios (Baltimore, MD), featuring you or their talent ($750/2-hour filming session). They schedule studio time in 2-hour intervals beginning at $1,500.00 - including videographer, lighting and teleprompter.
Once the production is completed, they receive the raw video (via FTP or miniDV) and handle the encoding, hosting, frequency capping, serving and reporting. Once they've completed the encoding process (turnaround usually takes 72 hours) and you've approved your spot, they will email you one line of JavaScript (per video) to place on to the web page where you want your InPerson video(s) to run.
Creative Endeavors can assist you with video development as part of a client package.
With respect to pricing, they are currently in the process of “evolving” from a CPM-based pricing to a flat-fee model/unlimited impression (featuring monthly – equal billing options…as well as lump-sum discounted one-time billing options). They are currently customizing the pricing options on a client by client basis – based upon the amount of videos clients want to implement and, where within their sites they want to “place” the messaging…as well as the length of time they are interested in using the technology for (i.e. a campaign – or annual commitment) and, how much traffic they have had historically – or, anticipate.
To give you a ball-park/historical figure to work with, their “current” CPM-model is still offered as an option because some clients prefer a click-rate type of campaign. The Monthly Plan requires an annual commitment/secured & billed to credit card.
For clients with higher-traffic needs...and, longer-term commitment options:
Annual CPM Licensure Model:
OR, some clients choose a short-term “Campaign” program until they can get some historical traffic figures to make a longer-term decision.
The Campaign-specific plan- provides a 90-day “window” of opportunity for your campaign to run on-line.
